Maqu was launched in Berlin in 2016 when designer Marisa Fuentes Prado realized the need for sustainable production of high quality garments. By 2018 the label managed to increase the certified organic cotton use to 100%. Maqu also use natural fabrics like Lyocell/Tencel and Hemp.
Bespoke up-cycled pieces and limited editions form a particularly important part of the label. This zero waste approach allows for exciting creations. At the Maqu Store & Studio in Berlin we are open to working with customers in breathing new life into their favourite old items of clothing.
All our fabrics are evaluated according to current standards of sustainable and ethical production. Our evaluation includes environmental and social aspects.
Wherever possible we use existing materials to minimize waste production and to reduce our CO2 emissions.
The team of producers has been with them since their very first collection and they pay great attention to the working conditions and fair compensation of the staff.
Shipment of Maqu pieces is plastic-free in recycled paper cartons using the GoGreen option to offset the CO2 emissions of transport.
