涂鸦 #GeorgeFloyd by Eme Freethinker
On a section of the Berlin Wall, the Dominican street artist Jesus Cruz Artiles a.k.a. Eme Freethinker produced on May 29, 2020, a graffiti in honor of George Floyd.
African American George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis during a disproportionate police intervention. Arrested on suspicion of using a fake 20 dollar bill, George Floyd was handcuffed and pinned to the ground by a police officer who held him stomach to the ground with his knee on his neck for nearly 9 minutes. The scene, filmed by a passer-by was broadcast on Facebook Live.
The drama, which has all of a police blunder, rekindled America's racial wounds and sparked anger in the United States.
While anger is gaining ground in European cities, which are also prey to racism, with demonstrations such as in Berlin, street art, in particular graffiti, is an expression that takes on its full meaning: claim, expression, indignation of a black artist on this wall once called the "Wall of Shame".
